SEOUL, South Korea and CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation (“MagnaChip”) (NYSE: MX), a Korea-based designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, today announced that it has launched two new step-down LED drivers targeting TV LED backlight and LED lighting applications. The new backlight drivers are designated as MAP3511 featuring single channel and MAP3512 featuring dual channels.

The MAP3511 and MAP3512 drivers are new designs which replace the existing step-up power circuit method of LED TV backlighting with a step-down circuit. These solutions enable the optimization of TV backlight power circuits by reducing system cost, such as eliminating the need for additional external MOSFETs for dimming control, and increasing system efficiency. The new products have multiple embedded protection circuits preventing functional errors during LED operation. This also enhances TV image quality and performance. In addition, a dimming function adjusts TV brightness and supports both PWM signal and analog dimming control signals, making it usable in a wide range of TV applications from low-end TV backlighting to premium ultra-high-definition (UHD).

HK Kim, Executive Vice President of MagnaChip’s Power Solutions Division stated, “With the launch of two new step-down LED drivers, we continue to provide TV customers with high efficiency and cost effective solutions that will allow them to expand their market share in the global TV market.”

  • 8.5V to 18V Input Voltage Range
  • Average-Mode Current Control
  • Programmable Constant Off-Time
  • Up to 3V Analog Dimming Input
  • Direct PWM Dimming Input
  • ±1% CS (Current Sense) Voltage Accuracy
  • Fault Output (MOSFET Drain-Source Short)
  • Short Circuit Protection
  • 8 Lead SOIC Package, Halogen-free

MAP3512 (Dual Channel) Features:

  • 8.5V to 18V Input Voltage Range
  • Average-Mode Current Control
  • Programmable Constant Off-time
  • Up to 3V Analog Dimming Input
  • Direct PWM Dimming Input
  • ±1% CS (Current Sense) Voltage Accuracy
  • Fault Output (MOSFET Drain-Source Short)
  • Short Circuit Protection and Over-Duty Protection
  • 16 Lead SOIC Package, Halogen-free

SEOUL, South Korea and CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — MagnaChip Semiconductor Corporation (“MagnaChip”) (NYSE: MX), a Korea-based designer and manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, announced today that it now offers a high voltage option for its 0.13 micron embedded EEPROM technology. This enhanced process increases noise immunity by improving the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a critical factor in touch sensing IC performance.

0.13 micron embedded EEPROM IP enhances the performance of touch controller ICs and MCUs by decreasing the density of 32Kbyte memory blocks by approximately 50% and by adding a high voltage (HV) option. The newly developed HV option, which features 10V and 20V transistors, requires the least amount of masks to implement and is completely independent of the 0.13 micron EEPROM logic to insure a seamless integration. Overall, this process technology enhances the functionality and performance of IC designs by improving the signal-to-noise performance.

MagnaChip also intends to release a 30V version in 2015, which is suitable for larger screen mobile applications. Along with the 0.18 micron embedded EEPROM, the 0.13 micron embedded EEPROM technology, through its various HV options, completes MagnaChip’s embedded EEPROM technology portfolio. This is confirmation that MagnaChip is taking the necessary steps to provide the embedded EEPROM options our customers most need.

Namkyu Park, Executive Vice President of MagnaChip’s Semiconductor Manufacturing Services Division stated, “We are very pleased to now offer a high voltage option for our enhanced 0.13 micron embedded EEPROM technology. Our goal is to continue to develop competitive features that meet the increasing application specific needs of foundry customers.”
